About Episode 1: A Bumpy Welcome

A resort transfer should be the easiest part of reaching a tropical island. In Blackwood Resort, the first impressions are shaped by a crowded private car and a road full of potholes. The chapter finds comedy in an ordinary logistics problem: too much luggage means Samantha cannot have a seat to herself. Oliver ends up sharing space with his mother-in-law, and neither is comfortable with how the bumpy ride unfolds. Meanwhile, Stacy sits up front, where a sharp turn catches her off guard. Rather than explaining everything away, the chapter lets these separate reactions create tension. By the time the group gets to the hotel, the vacation has already produced the kind of awkwardness everyone hoped to avoid.
